Christopher Ullrich (’16) graduated from Benedictine College last year with a double major in political science and philosophy. He is now a seminarian through the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter, studying at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio. Here is a taste of what he had to say about his formation at Western…
Many particulars which make Western special... the free play and field trips, sports, and study of nature, especially under Mr. Block. Going to holy Mass at Western, made me love the sacrifice and learn many of the hymns I now love. I felt close and felt close to the Church and her sacramental life.
The study of grammar and of literature I now return to for leisure. At Western, I received what became my basis for understanding the world, for living, and for virtue. I still read poetry and fear not to memorize prose or poetry! I still wonder at the stars and look at and consider trees and their leaves and the birds. I still love to sing Adoro Te Devote and O Sons and Daughters, and go to Mass on weekdays. I am still learning Latin and appreciate the base I received of Latin and grammar at Western.
