After a postponement due to inclement weather, the Pigskin Classic was well worth the wait and did not disappoint. A great number of Old Boys, dads, and faculty turned out for a lively tournament.
The faculty fumbled early on with an opening game loss to the Old Boys from the Class of 2018, but they then went on a five-game tear, eventually avenging their single loss and taking on the combined Classes of 2012-2014 in the championship game.
Perennial powerhouse Mr. Hoff served as the anchor QB for the faculty team dropping dimes all over the field to numerous receivers, including the two Mr. Heberts (Justin and Jordan), Mr. Henderson, Mr. Power, Mr. Janeiro, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Collins, Mr. Kolf, Mr. Chincuanco, and Mr. Thompson. This same squad proved equally fearsome on defense! And let's not forget Mr. McManus who played a vital support role from the sidelines, as he provided some lively commentary and roasting during the games much to the merriment of all present.
The final game was a real nail-biter as the Old Boys were especially stout this year with the combined talents of three classes. Both teams traded touchdowns and defensive stops. With the clocking winding down, it appeared as if the Old Boys had it in the bag when Zig Sanchez made a pick-six to take the lead with four plays remaining in the game, but out of nowhere the faculty marched the ball down the field, and, in the final play of the game, pulled out the win behind a miraculous catch by Mr. Ben Cramer, who was awarded the golden ball for his clutch playing. We look forward to seeing everyone again next December!
