Field Trip Recaps
7th Grade - Last week, the seventh grade traveled to San Antonio to tour the mission trail. The boys began their tour at Mission San Francisco de La Espada and moved on to the Espada Aqueduct, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Mission San Jose, and finally Mission San Antonio de Valero, also known as the Alamo.
The boys were able to see how the Franciscan missionaries and Native Americans lived in the Spanish missions. Visiting the Alamo, of course, gave the boys a better sense of and appreciation for the sacrifice of the Alamo Defenders as they continue their study of Texas History.
Lower School - Clint Pustejovsky from Texas Snakes & More came to Western to provide a presentation for the Lower School. After an intriguing tale of his entre into the world of snakes, he brought out a variety of snakes (and one red-footed tortoise) for the boys to handle. Most enjoyed was Hurricane Joe, a 15-foot yellow Burmese python, for whom the Western boys, contrary to their nature, got into a line so that the snake could travel along their outstretched arms...a great day for man and beast!
