Basil Ball Founders Unite!

A game for the generations!

After school, on Friday, March 6th, 24 members of last year’s graduating class reunited on campus for a game of Basil Ball. These were the guys who invented Branch Ball and then Basil Ball, with Adair Coffman being the main creator.

They played exactly like the way they did last year, with the bell ringing after 25 minutes, the duration of lunch recess, and the rush to the Great Oak. We assured them that their legacy is very much alive and congratulated them for giving this gift to Western boys in posterity!

Drake Leder (Strake Jesuit) in brown shirt, brought the boys together for the game. Adair Coffman (Memorial HS), in the red shorts, is the game's main creator

Class of 2025 boys after the games, including Michael Booth holding the "Basil ball" in the back row. Michael has been reunited with his classmates after spending 8th grade last year with his family in Spain. The boys named the game after Jude Cronin's (classically shoeless in the middle) younger brother, Basil

The Class of 2025 presented Mr. Hebert with a Basil Ball signed by everyone as a memory
