Love Being on the Water

Pierce Ledet (’17) says “Western is like no other school. I’m an active person and enjoy being outside. Teaching at Western was different, you get out and learn in different ways. I joined Western later than most, but made friends and studied Latin, which I continued in high school.”

“Western started to put me on the right path, but I really grew up when I went to college. It was then I understood how to discipline myself to work towards something and not to always take the easy way.”

At Texas A&M, Galveston, “I fell in love with the water and spent all the time I could fishing. At one point, I got an opportunity to join a Captain’s License course called Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV). Now I am a Captain and take people out for hire on the water.”

In September 2023, he launched Capt. Pierce Ledet’ Guide Service. “Right now, I am working in many ways to build my clientele. A lot goes into managing expenses, a boat loan, insurance, and making ends meet. I love being out on the water with customers, especially young kids, watching them catch Red Fish, Trout, Flounder and Drone in the West Bay. You never know what’s in the future!”
