On May 27th, forty young Men Alive graduated from Western, our 11th graduation in history. The Graduation Mass was celebrated by Fr. Paul Kais, our School Chaplain, on a cool morning on the stage of Beorn Hall, under leafy branches of the Great Oak. Tripp Mediamolle accompanied the Faculty Choir and congregation on the majestic organ for the Mass.
Following immediately after Mass, the Commencement Ceremony was led by Mr. Jason Hebert (Headmaster) and Mr. Alex Hoff (Middle School Head). Graduate speakers for the ceremony were John Hebert and Benedict Saylor.
Mr. Hoff preceded the bestowing of diplomas and walking staffs on each graduate by a personal and entertaining “thumbnail sketch” of each boy. The graduates, decked out in their colorful House stolls, processed out singing Western’s school march, Arise to the Tolling Bell, accompanied by the Brass Band and organ.
This year, fourteen boys were honored for being “Lifers” at Western, attending all years 3rd to 8th grade. They are Matthew Bates, Austin Beaver, John Paul England, Tully Florey, Gabe Graham, Carson Hebert, John Hebert, Cesc Malanga, Stefano Marchisio, Peter McManus, Tripp Mediamolle, Ian Morton, Benedict Saylor and Aston Tiongson.
After the graduation and photos under the Great Oak, the boys enjoyed their “Gentlemen’s Luncheon” where they offered their personal memories of the past years at school. So many of these humorous stories came from the Hiking Adventure in Moab, Utah in April.
