We celebrated the completion of eighth grade for our young men on May 24. The event began with a Gentleman’s Gatheringin the Great Room for graduates and teachers (including Mr. Hebert, Mr. Hoff and Mr. Carroll and many others). The gathering was a jovial series of stories and anecdotes from boys and teachers, recalling memorable moments from the past six years at Western.
Fr. Pete celebrated the Baccalaureate Mass for families in Beorn Hall, charging the fellows to continue living the virtues they have seen and learned at Western and to be strong in their faith. Our Faculty Choir of 14 teachers, led by Mr. Whitebread, sang hymns along with the congregation. After Mass, graduates and teachers processed in by House the the Graduation Ceremony, and each boy received his diploma and walking stick for his journey ahead in life.
Diplomas once again featured the calligraphy of Thomas Armentor (Old Boy, 2014). Mr. Hoff offered brief comments about each graduate as they were invited to walk across the stage. The recessional procession ended with pictures around the Great Oak, and then on to enjoy drinks and sandwiches in Hereot Hall. A gorgeous and memorable evening for everyone!
