High School Texas Rugby Champions

The Jesuit Varsity Rugby team clinched its second state title in a row over West Houston Rugby Club, 58-7 on April 20. In the words of Jesuit Coach Bill Rung, “Western boys have been big contributors to SJ Rugby over the years. They come to us well-trained in the basics, with a love for the game and an understanding of what teamwork really means. Alvaro Directo, Pablo Granados, Joey Figueroa, Matthew Granberry were as much responsible for our success this year as anyone and deserve all of the credit they should receive.” Congrats to our boys and to Mr. Monks for providing that strong base! And to Gabriela Granados and Lauren Granberry for sharing.

Joey Figueroa and Matthew Granberry (‘15) on visit last week to Western. Both contributed a lot to Jesuit victory. They will be roommates at TAMU Corpus Christi in the fall.
