"Seasons of Life"

By Luke Venus

When spring is come, the seeds of life do rise.
From seed to sap, the tree begins to grow.
As oaks do rise and spread, the infant cries,
Becomes the child, who learns and comes to know.
The oak matures and childhood's time has passed,
And summer youth and beauty wither soon.
The man is grown and sees the world at last,
This time of life will be as short as June.
In autumn time the harvest gathers in
What youth has learned and old men put to task,
To teach their children and their other kin,
And to these men the young ones come to ask.
In winter's freeze its time to leave this Earth,
and find ourselves with God for our rebirth.
