Leadership Camp

At the Western Academy Leadership Camp, boys will have the opportunity to learn and experience the art and science of leadership. Leveraging his military training as an officer, Captain Mitchell England (USAF) will teach the boys at this camp techniques on how to effectively lead both small and large groups. Campers will experience the science of leadership through Group Leadership Projects (GLPs) where they will be presented with a problem or mission that they will need to complete as a team. After each GLP they will debrief on their performance both as a leader of the group and as a member of the team. We will also discuss the art of leadership by examining stories about great leaders from history, and talk about different qualities that anyone can cultivate so as to grow into a leader at any level such as:

  • Why charity is imperative to being a leader

  • The importance of solitude and contemplation in leadership

  • Ownership of your role in a team

  • How building relationships is paramount to effectively leading a team

The week will be filled with opportunities for the boys to learn intangible leadership skills that they can apply anywhere they go!
