Rugby Starts Strong!

The WA Varsity soundly defeated Lanier Middle School 51 to 17 at home in the Green Jays' first match in the Houston Youth Rugby Association.

Harrison Heard scored the first try (touch down worth 5-points) for the Green Jays followed by Jackson Litts' first of three 2-point conversion kicks.

From there Pablo Granados score two tries, Jackson Litts scored two, Camden Ritchey one, Nicolas Gutierrez one, Nicolas Favoriti one, and JJ Furnace one. Of these many tries, Jackson Litts converted two more.

On two occasions the Green Jays fell asleep during a penalty call against Western, which allowed Lanier to score two unconverted tries. Lanier then scored a third try on a power run just to the right side of the Western defense to give them three tries altogether.

The Varsity and JV rugby teams play again next Thursday, February 16 at Regis. The JV team plays at 4:30pm and the Varsity team plays at 5:30pm.
